Part 2: Connect Line Voltage

Voltage Limit 277 Vac L-N!

To avoid eGauge meter damage do not exceed 277 Vac between Lx and N ports. Do not attempt to substitute the Neutral connection with a ground. Neutral connection is required when using the AC mains voltage connector.

Step 1: Install a two-pole (split-phase) or three-pole breaker (three-phase) in the distribution panel so that it will provide voltage access to all phases. Refer to the example wiring diagram relevant to your installation type for details.

Step 2: Open the breaker and properly de-energize the system to ensure there is no power on the breaker contacts.

Step 3: Connect voltage from the new breaker and Neutral to the included 5-pin Power Plug using THHN #12 stranded copper wire, or by using an appropriate Power Whip accessory as described below:

Service or panel voltage
eGauge voltage port
Phase A up to 277 Vac L-NL1 AC mains connector
Phase B up to 277 Vac L-NL2 AC mains connector
Phase C up to 277 Vac L-NL3 AC mains connector
Neutral (required, do not omit, do not sub ground)N
DC 9-60 Vdc (optional)2-pin DC voltage input

Information

For installations utilizing the EV1000 high voltage sensor or for installations where there is no Neutral available refer to the correct installation example diagram for details regarding voltage connections.
